How do you find the place?
First, find you a good Oklahoma map and locate the area in south east Oklahoma just southwest of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Look west of Poteau, east of Wilburton and north of Talihina (on lower part of map). There is a small, not-too-smooth paved (and patched and patched and patched) country road between Leflore and Bengal. The star marks the general area of where you are trying to go. From Bengal, go a little over 4 miles and from Leflore, it's about 3.5 miles. Now, for a blow-up of the area in the blue square, see below...
At the right spot between these two towns (remember, about 4+ miles from Bengal or 3½ miles from Leflore) the road will take a fairly sharp turn. At this spot, a gravel road heads straight ahead (south). Take it. Go about one tenth of a mile and turn left. Go four tenths (4/10) of a mile east and our driveway is on the right. It is the first drive on the right and it is just before a telephone box (which can be eary to miss) sticking out of the ground on your right—see pic below. When you get to the top of the hill, you will see a fork in the driveway with two gates. The right one is usually closed and the left one is usually open. Veer left. You're almost there. Once you get to another fork in the driveway, veer right and you should be able to see the house soon. Welcome to WindingRidge!!
